We have a single piece of software that only runs in XP or earlier Windows OS. It does what we need flawlessly and is "bulletproof". Replacements that would run in newer Windows OS start around $3500 and are not as stable.

In order for 2 VMs to communicate with each other, the 2 VMs need to ping Host machine at first.
Then the 2 VMs need to ping each other as below:
OK, so in your case you do not want a guest-only connection but also connected to the host, and outside world? If you don't, then there is no reason the 2 VMs need to ping the host machine - they only need to ping each other!
I have checked the 2 VMs, both don't have Virtual NIC !
Well, that would be a big problem. With the VM powered off, edit the VM properties. Look at the virtual hardware. If there is no NIC, then add one. And in it's configuration, specify what type of connection it should use - bridged if you want it to see and be seen by the outside world; nat if you want it to see the outside world but not be seen by it; custom if you want a guest-only connection.
But I don't know where to set the IP address and network in Host Windows 10 using VMware Workstation Pro 12.5 or using VMPlayer 12.5.
You don't set the IP address in the host for the guest! you set it in the guest.
If you use bridged or nat, then you should just accept/use the DHCP address in the guest. If custom guest-only, just specify the same subnet mask and gateway in each guest, and pick two different IP addresses in that subnet to assign them.

I understand that. I'm saying you already have that existing Windows XP virtual machine which you are running on Fusion now. Why would you not continue to do so, instead of nesting it under a different Windows VM?

Re: updating lab enviroment
Updating a free Hypervisor can be done either interactively using a current CD-ROM image, or from the command line using the "esxcli software update profile ... " command with latest update/patch bundle (.zip file).
Unless I'm mistaken, staging the patches doesn't require Maintenance Mode, nor does it enable it. This is only required for the final remediation.

Apparently the issue lies on our network. This company (I am relatively new) was recently purchased by a larger organization and the networks flattened. The 10.16.32.x segment overlaps with the parent company, which is why I can ping; a tracert of the ping goes back to the parent company's network. So, frightening as it is that they are okay with this, not a vCenter-specific issue.

Script no returning empty
Hi
the following is not returning correctly. I was wondering if there was actual data but not being shown? It always comes back as "Nic Teaming Configured Properly" weather i have a nic in standby mode or not.
Any help would be appreciated.

In Administration, Licensing if you select your license it should show which edition you're licensed for in the product/solution name. If I remember correctly, if you have standard the UI doesn't show the plus sign at all to create new reports or dashboards.

How to produce ssh trap when it his access.
Hi,
I am trying to monitor the access to my esxi/ssh port. I can generate at trap when it's a failure no problem. I would like to generate a trap when some one access it successfully.
Has anyone ever done that before?

Hello,
First thing to do is to go to the location where your .vmdk files are stored for that VM and check you don't have any of the following files/folders there:
.vmem file, this contains a backup of the VMs guest main memory and should only exist when the VM is running.
.lck folders, these are locks which are created on vmdks when the VM is running and again shouldn't be there when the VM is powered down.
If you do have any of these when your vm is powered down, delete them and try again.

I am customizing my email notifications and need some help with one area. Pulling the owner information, bill@me.local for example, works fine. However, the owner's email address is different, bill@me.com for example. Is there a property that contains the owner's email address?
