HBA Failure Behavior
We have single dual port HBAs in our hosts.. each port goes to a sep SAN controller.. but I am curious how a host handles VMs if the HBA itself was to fail?

The whole card, you mean, not just a single port? Well, you'd lose all access to your storage, and eventually the IOs on the VMs would stop and timeout. How the guest OS response to this varies ....
